When the Romans driven their approach north into the Gerguy provinces, they constructed (circa 90 AD) the Saalburg, a citadel that professionaltected the sureary between the Roman Empire and the Gerguyic tribal territories. At its height, 2,000 people lived within the citadel and the hooked up village, and it remained energetic till round 260 AD.
Sometime during the nineteenth century, the Saalburg used to be rediscovered and excavated, then later fully reconstructed. It’s now a UNESCO International Heritage web site and houses the Saalburg Museum, which contains many Roman relics, including a 2,000-year-old shoe, apparently present in an area smartly.
